Helen K. Parker, age 91, of Salisbury passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010 at The Laurels of Salisbury.
She was born August 3, 1918 in Thorpe, WV the daughter of the late Catherine and Joseph Kapish. Mrs. Parker was a graduate of McDowell County Schools and Jefferson School of Business. She worked 21 years at Union Supply and 18 years at Mattox Distributors Company. A member of Bethel Lutheran Church and was active as Chairman of Circle, Altar Guild, Council, Lay Reader, Usher team, member of LTSS Seminary and president of Franklin Fellowship club. A member of Women of the Moose, Franklin Home Extension club for 30 years, 10 years with Home Extension Chorus and Christian Women Club. In West Virginia she was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Preceding her in death was her husband Charles W. Parker on January 5, 1990; sons Jerry Parker and Charles Parker.
Survivors include son Lawrence Damon Parker (Joretta) of Enterprise, AL; daughter in law Elizabeth Parker; former daughter in law Kathy Cable; brother Lawrence Kapish (Sally) Thorpe, WV; grandchildren Brian Parker of LA, Tonya Turk of AL, Regan Yates of GA, Angela Madison of Charlotte, Cheryl Faggart of Granite Quarry, Jamie Parker of Rockwell and Robin Boone of Salisbury; great grandchildren Michael, William, Coleton, Tristen, Tamara, Zachary, Meghan and Zoe; one great-great granddaughter.
Visitation: 6:30-8:00 PM Monday at Lyerly Funeral Home.
Service: 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Bethel Lutheran Church with Rev. Carroll Robinson presiding. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.
