Daniel Franklin Barber July 19, 2010

Daniel Franklin Barber, 78, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, July 19, 2010 at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.

Born August 28, 1931, in Rowan County, Mr. Barber was a son of the late Minnie Potts Barber and Charlie Barber.

Educated in East Spencer Schools, he retired from North Carolina Finishing. He was good at repairing things, almost always accomplishing his task. Mr. Barber really loved to fish and even during his illness; he enjoyed fishing stories told by his friends.

A member of Trading Ford Baptist Church, he loved to read his Bible and gave much thought on its subjects.

Preceding him in death was his wife of 53 years, Betty Jean Barber, who died August 15, 2003.

Survivors include his sons, Larry Barber (Diane) of Salisbury, Danny Barber (Saundra) of Lexington; sister Virginia Spry; brothers, Charlie Barber, all of Salisbury and Tommy Barber of Lexington; grandchildren, Clint Barber (April) of Yadkinville, Brett Barber (Allison) of Lexington, Nick Barber (Kayla) of Advance, Angela Barber and Christopher Barber, both of Salisbury and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 1:30-2:30 PM – Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Lyerly Funeral Home.

Service: 3:00 PM – Thursday in the James C. Lyerly Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Motley officiating. Burial will follow in Trading Ford Baptist Church Cemetery.
