Ruby Murray Brooks, 81, of Faith, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at her residence.
Born January 28, 1929 in Madison County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Annie Ruth Byrd and Hiram F. Murray.
Mrs. Brooks was educated in Rowan County Schools. A retiree of Cannon Mills, she was a member of Holy Power Church in Rockwell.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Homer Eugene Brooks, Sr., who died April 16, 2008.
Survivors include sons, Homer Eugene Brooks, Jr. (Shirley) of Cleveland, Terry Lynn Murray (Susan) of Granite Quarry, and Charles Reese Dudley of Oakboro; daughters, Vicky Lynn Taylor of Salisbury, Wanda Denise Boggs (Danny) of Salisbury, Glenda M. Carroll and Sandra Y. Murray, both of Faith; and sister Dorothy Phillips of Gold Hill. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 10:00-11:00 AM – Friday, July 23, 2010 at Lyerly Funeral Home, with the service to begin at 11:00 AM in the James C. Lyerly Chapel. Pastor Bill Cutshaw will officiate. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery in China Grove. Family and friends will gather at Holy Power Church following the burial.
