Lenton Len Lamar Loftin, Sr, 78, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at his residence.
Born January 25, 1932 in Gaston County, he was the son of the late Georgia Inez Dameron Loftin and William D. W. D. Loftin. Mr. Loftin received his education in Gaston County Schools.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Loftin was a retired police officer. He was of the Methodist faith.
Preceding him in death were his son, Mark Alan Loftin; sister, Shirley Jean Davis and grandson, Michael Steven Loftin.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Stephens Loftin, whom he married June 18, 1987; sons, Lenton Lamar Loftin, Jr. (Janice) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Scot Steven Loftin (Rhonda) of Gastonia; step-son, Jonathan Gobble (Adele) of Sylva; daughters, Teri Li Thompson (Mike) of Lancaster, SC and Tami Loftin Braswell (Tim) of Belmont; step-daughter Melissa Grady of Banner Elk. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
Visitation: 7-8:30 PM Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Lyerly Funeral Home.
Graveside Service: 11:00 AM Monday, August 2, 2010 at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Boulevard, Salisbury. The Rev. Mike Motley will officiate. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Pope Air Force Base.
