Jeanette Ward

Jeanette B. Ward, 97 of Salisbury, NC went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

She was born June 27, 1926, to Jospeh W. Byrd and Fannie Austin Byrd.  She was educated in the Rowan County School System and received her GED at Rowan Cabarrus Community College.

She was a seamstress by profession.  She enjoyed searching the scriptures, gospel music, sewing for family and friends, cooking, gardening, working with her flowers, ceramics, interior decorating, floral arrangements, trips to the beach and mountains and spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by husband Marvin P. Herring whom she married in 1945 and was married to William M. Ward in 1977.

Those left to cherish her memory are sons Stanley G. Herring Sr. (Toni) of Wilmington, NC, Arnold P. Herring (Brenda) of Salisbury, NC and daughters Gloria J. Riggsbee of Salisbury, NC, Rose M. Whitley of Polkton, NC, and Fannie H. Ross of Salisbury, NC, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held on March 22, 2024 at Canaan Baptist Church, Salisbury, NC, with Pastor Burce Graham officiating.  Burial; will follow at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury, NC.

Visitation with family will begin at 1:00pm and service will begin at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Canaan Baptist Church at 785 Barringer Street, Salisbury, NC 28146, and The American Heart Association.
