Ada Mae Shipp Phillips, 78, of Advance passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center.
Born on June 5, 1939 in Tyler, Texas, she was the daughter or the late Dorothy Coleman Shipp and Max Shipp.
Family and friends were her passion and delight. Ada never met a stranger and lived much of her life serving others. She grew up playing the piano for Flint Nazarene Church. She graduated from Bullard High School and later in life, Salisbury Business College. Ada was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority in which service was one of their priorities. She organized fundraisers and helped many find needed resources to live meaningful lives. Her arms were always open.
Ada was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Robert Shipp, son Steven Craig Phillips and son-in-law Rich McNeil.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son Jeff Phillips of Salisbury, daughter Terri Phillips McNeil of Advance, two granddaughters, five grandsons, a sister Janice Shipp Smith (Will) of Colorado, two nephews, and her faithful four-legged companion, Rocky.
A private memorial service was held at Rowan Memorial Park on Saturday, April 21, 2018.
