Mrs. Bessie Medlin was born February 19, 1933 to Helen McCrae and Samuel Lewis and grew up in Bennettsville SC.
Bessie later moved to NYC and met her Husband Joseph Medlin and soon married in a simple ceremony in Brooklyn on September 11th in 1962.
They would reside in Brooklyn for the next 50 years living a modest life while raising their 4 children and living in faith.
Bessie and Joe relocated to Salisbury NC and found their spiritual home at Jerusalem Baptist Church where Bessie was a member of the Annie Duke Missionary Circle. She was a quiet force who forged a place in the hearts of all she graced with her smile and unassuming demeanor. Bessie passed away softly on Monday June 10th but her memory will live long in the hearts of all who knew her and she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her amazing husband Joseph and her four wonderful children, John, Helen, Joseph Jr and Tamala. Bessie was blessed to have a beautiful Daughter- in- Law, Virginia, two loving Sons- in -Christ, Thom and Bobby along with two grandchildren, Ashanta, Crystal and three Great grandchildren Angel, Cheyenne and Leah. Bessie has a large extended family including cousins, nieces and nephews alike; whose hearts she touched and lives she has graced with love. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in our hearts.
