Betty Gardner Smith, 97, of Woodleaf passed into the arms of her Savior Friday, May, 2018 at her home in Woodleaf.
She was born in Montgomery County on September 18, 1920 to the late Thomas Roland Gardner and Annie Reeder Gardner. One of twenty-one children, she was the last surviving child. She worked at Cone Mills for twenty-five years and was a member of Trading Ford Baptist Church. She loved flowers, her neighbors, K&W Cafeteria and helping others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Allen Smith, whom she married on October 5, 1948. She is survived by one daughter, Dicy Smith McCullough, two granddaughters, Kristin McCullough Saine (Brian) of Cleveland, NC, and Kelly McCullough Key (Ben) of Salisbury; and four great-grandchildren, Carson and Garrett Saine and Clara and Sadie Key.
Visitation & Service: The funeral service will be at Trading Ford Baptist Church, 3600 Long Ferry Road, Salisbury, on May 12th at 11:00, with Rev. Mike Motley and Rev. Joe Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

The family would especially like to thank Community Home Care & Hospice of Statesville for their care during Mom’s decline. Their thoughtfulness and kindness will never be forgotten.
