David Simmerson

David Simmerson, 63, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Brookstone Retirement Center in Lexington. He was born in Forsyth County on March 7, 1955, to the late Lillian Philips Simmerson and the late Samuel Simmerson.

David was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a truck driver for South West Trucking Company before his retirement. David was a member of Churchland Baptist Church and loved the outdoors.

  In addition to his parents Mr. Simmerson was preceded in death by a son, Sean Simmerson and brother, James Phillips great grandmother, Bertha Barns.

David is survived by his wife, Norma Thomas of Linwood daughter, Erica Thomas of Long Island, NY; son, Daniel Simmerson of Jamesville, WI. sister, Linda Bidgood, of Reeds, Sister-in-laws, Sherry Hayes of Bennetsville, SC, Mary Chan, of Linwood, Mary Cook of Linwood and Teresa Thomas of Lexington, brother-in-law, Randall Thomas of Lexington.

Host of nieces and nephews.

Service: Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday March 28, 2018 at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC  28144, Military Honors will be accorded by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard.
