Donald “Don” Burleson, 81, of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018, at his residence.
Born in Bristol, VA on March 8, 1937, he was the son of the late Walter Craven Burleson and the late Anne Williams Burleson.
Don was a graduate of New London High School, he served his country in the United States Air Force, he retired after working 32 years at Celanese, Donald was also a founding member of the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard. Donald was a member of the American Legion and was a Lay Leader at Woodleaf United Methodist Church, He also served on various committees at the church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger and his wife Julia Burleson, and Kelly Burleson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty Burleson, whom he married on June 22, 1968, son, Darrell Bryant (Samara, of High Point, daughters, Michele Burleson of the home, and Tonya B. Yates (Scott Messick) of Salisbury, grandchildren, Ethan R. Yates, Tyler Yates, Megan Yates, Ashley Crandall, Albany Shaul, Cameron Lacy, Brooklyn Flatt, Jessalyn Bryant, Davidson Bryant and Jonnalee Bryant, great-grandchildren, Rebecca Yates, Ryan Yates, Brayden Lacy, Seth Waltman, Autumn Waltman and Lyla Crandall.
Service: 1:00- 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at Woodleaf United Methodist Church, 9000 Church Street, Woodleaf, NC 27054, with service to follow at 3:00 PM with the Rev. Kevin Jasper officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard.
