Dr. Jesusa "Susie" Cabagnot

Dr. Jesusa “Susie” Cabagnot, 84, of Salisbury passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at her residence.

Born in Pontevedra, Capiz, Philippines on December 19, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Dolores Cortez Castro Reyes and Jose Fernandez Reyes.

Dr. Cabagnot graduated from Southwestern University in Cebu City, Philippines with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1960. She worked as Acting Chief at the Provincial Health Office in Tagbilaran City, Philippines from 1968-1970 and as a Staff Medical Officer at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Washington D.C. from 1976-1979. Dr. Cabagnot worked as a Staff Physician at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC from 1979 until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salisbury.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Mamerto Alaba Cabagnot of Salisbury, whom she married on January 8, 1970; son, Rocky M. Cabagnot and wife Leslie of Salisbury; sister, Juanita Castro Reyes of Oakland, CA; grandson, Daniel Ellis.

Visitation: 10:00-11:00 AM Friday, September 6, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 375 Lumen Christi Ln., Salisbury, NC 28147.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 AM Friday September 6, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father John Eckert officiating. Entombment will follow at the Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum 4125 Franklin Community Center Rd., Salisbury, NC 28144.
