George W. Riley, Jr., 71, of Woodleaf, passed away Friday, November 30, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
Born in Rowan County on February 9, 1947, he was the son of the late Evelyn Lomax Riley and the late George Riley, Sr.
A veteran of the US Army, George worked as a welder and was a member and Pastor at Old Country Baptist Church in Salisbury, and loved fishing.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a son, Billy Riley and two brothers, Gary and Larry Riley.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Lou Riley, whom he married January 7, 1967, sons, Eddie Riley (Jamie) of Salisbury, Phillip Riley (Leslie) of Salisbury, Darrell Riley (Hope) of Salisbury, daughter, Amanda Riddle (Ken) of Woodleaf, sisters, Bonny Graham (Lanny)of Salisbury, and Diane Leazer (Mike) of Rockwell, grandchildren, Dillon Riley, Dylan Riley, Sydney Patton, Oscar Brown, Cyress Brown, Jillian Brown, Eris Riley, Asa Riley, Urijah Riley, and expecting Quinn Riley.
Service: Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2018, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at Calvary Baptist Tabernacle Church, 3760 Stokes Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146 with service at 12:00 noon with the Rev. Brian Vanderford officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard.
