Harvey Calvin “Bub” Hinson, 92, of Salisbury passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the North Carolina State Veteran’s Home.
Born in Rowan County on March 27, 1926, he was the son of the late Annie Sides and William Davidson Hinson.
Mr. Hinson attended Rowan County Schools and was a veteran of the US Navy, serving on the USS Missouri during WWII. He owned and operated “The Shack” at Rowan Mills prior to his employment at the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center, from which he retired. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Laura Mae Hinson, Nealie Barringer, Blanche Straughn, Gertrude Ayers, Beaulah Harmon and Juanita Smith.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Irene McKinney Hinson; daughter, Tamara Barker (Eric) of Eden, NC; grandsons, Andrew R. Barker and Thomas C. Barker, both of Charlotte; very special nieces and nephews; caregivers, Hollis Wilhelm, Janet Lee, Travis Evans and Melissa Hodge.
Visitation: 12:30-1:30 PM Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 5202 Mooresville Rd., Salisbury, NC 28147.
Service: 2:00 PM Wednesday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gene Bruce officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors performed by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard.
