A graveside memorial service celebrating the life of CPT James Timothy Tarlton will be held at the Salisbury National Cemetery on Thursday, July 12, at 11:00 AM, with military honors conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard. CPT Tarlton was a decorated U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany, the Gulf War, and later as a member of the US Army Reserves.
After his retirement, Tim (also known as Cotton to many of his close friends) returned to his hometown of Salisbury, NC, where he was an active member of Coburn United Methodist Church and the Lion’s Club.
CPT Tarlton was a graduate of Appalachian State University. He was predeceased by his wife, Angala Latham Tarlton, his father James (Fats) Edward Tarlton, his mother Anne Simpson Tarlton, and his brother Douglas Lawson Tarlton.
Survivors include his sister, Patty Tarlton McElveen (Tommy), and his two children, Erika Tarlton Johnston (CJ) and James Douglas Tarlton (Trista). Tim also had 3 grandchildren, Karis Ann Johnston, Remington Leenette Tarlton, and James Gatling Lawson Tarlton.
Memorials can be made to Coburn United Methodist Church, located at 901 S. Church Street, Salisbury NC.
