Kevin Dale Smarr

Kevin Dale Smarr, 56, of Faith passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.

Born on January 3, 1962, he was the son of Kay Henderson Harviel and Ronald Taylor Smarr.

A 1983 graduate of East Rowan High School, Kevin was employed by Atlantic Petroleum and was a retired member of the Faith Volunteer Fire Department. He previously worked for many years at Bill Wilhelm Fuel Oil Company and Lyerly Funeral Home, and was a lifelong member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Kevin received the Faith Junior Fireman of the Year award in 1985 and the Faith Civitan Citizen of the Year award in 1996.

He had a heart of gold and was truly loved by all who knew him. His challenges in life never prevented him from being a loving, caring and productive member of society.

Kevin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Odell and Georgia Henderson; paternal grandparents, O.C. and Elizabeth Smarr; aunt, Sondra Hall and honorary father, Bill Wilhelm.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Kay H. Harviel of Salisbury; father, Ronald T. Smarr (Becky) of Pamplico, SC; cousins, Lorri Quas of Boise, ID and Stacy Ross of Garden Valley, ID; stepbrother, Taylor Smarr of Vancouver, WA; stepsister, Tressa Wayman of New Zealand; honorary brother George Wilhelm and his Atlantic Oil family.

Visitation: 11:00 AM-12:30 PM Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Faith Lutheran Church Family Life Center, 205 S. Main St., Faith, NC 28041.

Celebration of Life: 1:00 PM Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev. Randy Drafts and the Rev. Mitchell A. Sewell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with firefighter’s graveside rites performed by the Faith Volunteer Fire Department.
