Marney David Yates

Marney David Yates, 80, of China Grove, NC passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 11:00 AM with burial immediately following at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144. He will have full Military Honors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Mary Yates, his brother, Ken Yates, sister-in-law, Mary Yates, his sons David Yates and Christopher Yates, and a nephew, Kelly Yates.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Debbie Donaldson and son-in-law Ricky Donaldson of China Grove. His son Kevin Yates and daughter-in-law Lisa Yates of LaCrosse, WI. His son Daniel Yates of Kannapolis, NC. 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way and 2 nephews, along with several other relatives.

As a young man he enlisted in the US Air Force and he married Linnea Fluette. While in the Air Force he served in Turkey and France and also served in Northern Michigan and Oklahoma. After Military Discharge, he would settle in Concord, NC later moving to Northern Michigan. While in NC he worked at Akers Truck Lines of Charlotte. After moving to Michigan, he completed police training and worked as a police officer for several years. He moved his family to Wisconsin to be near his brother and sister-in-law. He worked at the Presto Factory and would later work as an Iron Worker in Minneapolis, MN.

He loved to fish and hunt. He loved the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. He also had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to make people smile and laugh with his funny jokes. He was very charming and he loved to sing to people. We will miss him very much. We want to give many thanks to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for taking our Father home.

We want to give a very heartfelt Thank You to his very special caregivers who made his days better and meant so much to him: Elise Valeriano, Kristi Beyersdorf, Karen Vincent, Mavis Spratt, Brian Waite, and of course his very close buddy, Rocky Donaldson.
