Mary Sain Obituary
Mary Belle Swicegood Sain passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the age of 93 after several years of poor health. She was a breast and lung cancer survivor.
Mary was born in Woodleaf, NC to the late Ike and Rosa Swicegood. She was a hair stylist and had her own business for over 30 years. She married James F. Sain, Jr. on April 6, 1944 and they were together for over 56 years. They had two children: a son – Jim Sain, III and a daughter – Linda Bradley. Mary, along with her career, spent most of her time helping with school activities, parties, church activities and always willing to help others and that included all of the four legged family members which she helped to care for over many years. She also loved her feathered friends which she always made sure were fed. In her free time she enjoyed creating things, whether it was a handmade crocheted afghan or cooking something new and special. She was a lady of many talents.
Mary was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Spencer, NC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband – James F. Sain, Jr. and her brother – Garland Grey Swicegood, Jr.
Mary’s memory will always be treasured by her son – Jim Sain, III; daughter, Linda Bradley (son-in-law Dr. Jim Bradley) of Eatonton, GA (Lake Oconee); grandson, Mark Sain (Lisa) of Huntersville, NC; two great-grandchildren, Zandra and Kira Sain of Huntersville, NC; nieces, cousins and two special fur babies she loved, Lady Bug and Hobbie.
Service: 11:00 AM Monday, July 29, 2019 at Rowan Memorial Park Chapel in the Pines, 4125 Franklin Community Center Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144, conducted by the Rev. Wayne Cobb. Burial will follow in Rowan Memorial Park Cemetery.
