Philip K. Ellenburg, 71, of Lexington passed away Friday, April 19, 2019 at his residence.
Born in Rowan County on May 6, 1947, he was the son of the late Sarah Link Ellenburg and John B. Ellenburg.
Philip attended Lexington City Schools and was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He later worked as a truck driver. He was a member of the American Legion and loved his family and his camping family at the Saddle Ridge Campground.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Roy Haywood and mother-in-law, Dot Haywood.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susie Ellenburg of Lexington, whom he married on February 5, 1966; sons, Brian Ellenburg (Nancy) of Lexington and Scott Ellenburg (Nicki) of Lexington; grandchildren, Nicole Lanning (Justin), Camden Ellenburg and Slade Ellenburg; great-grandchildren, Bayden Lanning and Benson Lanning; step grandchildren, Travis Hinson and Blake Hinson; step great-grandchildren, Autumn Hinson, Lexi Hinson and Levi Hinson.
Service: 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Madison Heights Freewill Baptist Church, 214 Andrew Sink Rd, Lexington, NC 27295 with Pastor David Robinson officiating. A family burial will be held at a later date at Salisbury National Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard.
