Shirley Huffman Fisher passed away after an early morning spring shower on April 4th, 2018 at the Autumn Care Nursing Facility. She was born on May 4th, 1935 in Catawba County, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years The Reverend Guy F Fisher, son Jeffrey Fisher, grandson Brandon Fisher, father Jefferson Huffman, mother Lottie Huffman, brother Harvey Huffman, sisters Frankie Pruitt, Louise Huffman, Nellie Lutz, Lois Isenhour and Mary Bolch.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son Guy Fisher Jr, her sisters Virginia Anderson and Betty Owen, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews
Shirley and Guy were married in 1953 in Cherokee County. Shirley worked in various administrative and HR positions, helping put her husband through College and Seminary.
After her second son, Jeff was born she spent the next forty-six years taking care of his special needs. She always put her family's needs before her own. Also during this time, she supported her husband as ministers wife in several churches.
In 1995 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and with the skilled surgeon hands and God's healing power she beat this cancer.
She and Guy worked at the Veterans Administration in Salisbury she in HR and he as Chaplin until she retired in 1996 then enjoyed her years of retirement with her husband and her son's.
Shirley Fisher will be cremated and a graveside service will be held on Saturday, April the 7th at 3 p.m. at Catawba Memorial Gardens 3010 US Hwy. 70 SW. Hickory North Carolina 28602.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request that memorials be designated to the Shirley Fisher Memorial fund 2411 Wedgewood Drive Salisbury North Carolina 28146 to assist with expenses.
