William Lee Basinger, 83, of Salisbury passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at his residence.
Born in Rowan County on March 6, 1935, he was the son of the late Addie Rinehardt Basinger and William Waverly Basinger.
A veteran of the US Army, William was a 1953 graduate of Rockwell High School. He enjoyed fishing and was always there for a friend.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Vera Hall Basinger, who passed away on January 9, 2012 and his sister, Martha Parker.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, William “Billy” Dean Basinger (Jennifer) of Rockwell, Gary Basinger (Jane) of Gold Hill; daughter, Terri Powlas (Alan) of Salisbury; brother, Fred Basinger (JoAnn) of Salisbury; sister-in-law, Bessie Cress of Salisbury; grandchildren, Katie Misenheimer (Mark), Jamie Eudy (Chase), Samantha Wells (Justin), Casey Basinger, Heather Morgan, Ivy Basinger, Matt Basinger, Faith Basinger, Adam Basinger; great-grandchildren, Skylar Brock, Zoe Wells, Elin Wells, Hadley Misenheimer.
Visitation: 12:30-1:30 PM Saturday, January 12, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 205 St. Paul’s Church Rd, Salisbury, NC 28146.
Service: 1:30 PM Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
