William Edward Lentz, 69, of Salisbury passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the W.G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
Born on September 12, 1948 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Council Lentz and Gladys Lentz.
William was a veteran of the US Marines, earning two Purple Hearts in Vietnam. He worked for the Department of Corrections for 20 years and retired from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of Gold Hill Wesleyan Church. William loved his family more than life itself.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Peggy Eller Lentz, whom he married in 1997; son, William “Bubby” Lentz of the home; daughter, Tonya Black (Mike) of the home; stepdaughter, Kimberly Lee of Salisbury; adopted daughter, Christine Comer (Burt) of Granite Quarry; sister, Anna Harrelson of Salisbury; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation: 12:00-1:00 PM Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Rowan Memorial Park Chapel in the Pines, 4125 Franklin Comm. Center Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144.
Service: 1:00 PM Saturday at Rowan Memorial Park Chapel in the Pines with the Rev. Harold Bumby officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard.
