Alan “Dudley” Christopher Mako, 60, of Stoneville, North Carolina, passed away on July 23, 2025.
Born on January 24, 1965, Alan proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1983 to 1986 as a combat engineer, building a lifelong bond with his Marine brothers and sisters. Following his service, Alan dedicated himself to high-rise construction management in Charlotte, North Carolina, where his steady leadership and commitment to excellence left an unmistakable mark on the skyline and on the many people who worked alongside him.
Alan was preceded in death by his father, George Mako. He is survived by his mother, Rosalie Mako of Wilmington, North Carolina; his brothers, Gerry (Julie) Mako and Tim (Sandy) Mako; his nephew Tyler and niece Tiffany; his nephews Kyle and Hunter; and his devoted friend, Stacy, who remained a constant source of care and companionship. Alan also leaves behind many friends who became family, especially the Marines with whom he shared unbreakable bonds.
Alan will be remembered for his quiet strength, dedication to his work, and the loyalty he showed to family and friends. His legacy will live on in the countless projects he helped build and in the lives of those who loved him.
A service will be held for family and friends on Friday, August 1 at 10 AM at the Salisbury National Cemetery annex in Salisbury North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a veterans’ organization of your choice in Alan’s honor.
