Allen Hammill Obituary

Allen Ray Hammill, 68, of Salisbury passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Forsyth Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Rowan County on May 9, 1953, he was the son of Catherine Joan Hammill and the late George “Bud” Hammill, Jr.

Mr. Hammill was a 1972 graduate of East Rowan High School, where he played football and ran track. He later worked for 36 years in the finishing department at Norandal, USA. He enjoyed playing golf with G.A.R.S. at the Rufty Holmes Center and restoring old cars. Mr. Hammill was most proud of his ‘57 Chevy. His daily routine included watching the Andy Griffith Show. He knew every line by heart. He also liked getting together with his children and grandchildren for outings and trips to the beach.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Hammill; brothers Larry and James Hammill; nephew, Josh Hammill.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years, Kay Edwards Hammill, whom he married on October 12, 1993; mother, Catherine Joan Hammill of Salisbury; son, Michael Allen Hammill (Diana) of Salisbury; daughter, Allison Joannah Walker (Jay) of China Grove; sister, Kathy Robertson of Salisbury; stepson, Stuart Perkins (Kim) of Salisbury; stepdaughter, Anna Perkins Auerbach (Adam); brother-in-law and best friend, Buddy Edwards (Lewellen); brothers-in-law, Rob Honeycutt (Lauren) and Todd Honeycutt; sisters-in-law, Donna Griffin (Dean) and Deb Messick (Keith); grandchildren, Samuel and Owen Hammill, Breyanna and Sydney Walker, Corbin and Camryn Perkins, Christian Ellenburg, Alec and Axel Auerbach.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, officiated by nephew, Pastor Nathan Hammill.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Golf Association of Rufty Holmes Senior Center to benefit the golf association, 1120 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Salisbury, NC 28144.
