Barbara Juanita Cook McDaniel passed away at Atrium Health Cabarrus on January 24, 2026, at the age of 83.
She was born on September 18, 1942, in Cabarrus County to the late Joseph Stanley Cook and Evelyn Louretta Williams Cook.
Barbara married her husband Hubert on April 22, 1962, and went on to work as a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and traveling across the US with her beloved husband and friends. She especially loved going to the beach and mountains. She also enjoyed crafts, sewing, spending time with her family, and playing the piano and organ at church. She was the organist at New Hope Baptist Church for the past 45 years. She also enjoyed taking care of her cat, Kitty Tom.
Barbara was a gentle, loving, caring, and soft-spoken woman. She loved her lord and her family over everything. She lived and practiced her faith unwaveringly.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Hubert Burns McDaniel; sisters Brenda Suretta Cook and Lydia Sophia Cook Ritchie; and her brother John Loraine Cook.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Della McDaniel of Salisbury. NC; son Derek McDaniel of Salisbury, NC; sister Joanna Stanley Cook St. John of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; grandchildren Christie Goodman (Ronnie) and Maria Tidwell; greatgrandchildren Alyssa Tidwell, Mason Goodman, Makenley Tidwell, and Kylan Tidwell; and her sister-in-law Carol McDaniel Sieh of Rockwell, NC.
A visitation will be held at 12:00 - 1:00 pm on Friday February 6, 2026, at New Hope Baptist Church, 830 Choate Rd, Salisbury, NC 28146. A service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Samuel Mills officiating. A burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, 1350 S Main St, China Grove, NC 28023.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to be sent to New Hope Baptist Church.
