On Thursday, April 30th, 2020, Barbara Peters, a loving mother, and grandmother, passed away at the age of 81.
Barbara was born in Norfolk, Virginia to Raymond and Ruby Mae (Dunnavant) Cutrell. After graduating from high school, she promptly joined the United States Marine Corps where she served her country as a logistics specialist. On August 16th, 1958, she married Robert Peters and they raised three sons, Michael, Brian, and Bret.
Barbara was passionate about her faith in Jesus and loved sharing her conviction with others. She was an avid conservative and had an amazing way of expressing her perspectives with humility. She was a proud Marine and loved her country with vigor. Barbara was proud of her accomplishment of becoming a private pilot and volunteering with the Civil Air Patrol. Her smile was infectious and she never met a stranger. She was known for her quick wit, her love of family, and her kind and compassionate spirit. She always had a kind thing to say, a goofy joke to share, and a laugh in her soul. She made us ALL better people...
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Raymond, and her mother, Ruby Mae, and her siblings, George and Sharon. She is survived by her son, Michael and his wife Margaret, her son Brian and his fiance’ Sue, and her son Bret and his wife Lisa. She is also survived by her sister, Dot, and her grandchildren, Matthew, JD, Jessica, and Brittany.
She will be interned at the National Veteran’s Cemetery in Salisbury, NC on May 8th, 2020. Due to current COVID restrictions, a memorial service with full military honors will be scheduled for a later date.
