Benjamin Motley Obituary

Benjamin Lee Motley, born 10-17-1983 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, Winston Salem was tragically killed in a wreck on I-85S at Long Ferry Road at approximately 6am Friday, November 20th 2020. Ben was employed at Piedmont Natural Gas as a service technician since March, 2014.

 

Ben joined the Marines in 2003 after his high school graduation from North Rowan High School in 2002. He served from 2003-2007 with the 4th Platoon Bravo Company 2nd Military Police Battalion 2nd FSSG.

 

Ben lived life to its fullest. He was a member of Trading Ford Baptist Church where he was active in youth, missions, taught a young men’s discipleship class, participated in ‘Pickin’ for the Master’ and held many other positions. Among other things, Ben served on the board of directors for Saving Grace K9’s and volunteered for multiple veteran organizations. He loved to hunt, fish, and play bluegrass music with The Gray Connection along with other multiple past times.

 

Ben is survived by his wife, Rebekah Carriker Motley, his daughter Hannah Elizabeth Motley, his parents Rev. Michael and Sandy Motley, his brother Andrew (Taylor), nephews Aiden and Easton, David Casey-Motley (Desi), nephew Jacob, nieces Catherine and Charlotte. Bekah’s family, parent’s David Carriker (Karen), Joyce Henry (Bruce), sister Ashleigh Carriker, brothers David and Jon (Lauren) nephews Jonathan, Mathias, Titus. Grandmothers: Nell Cope and Elsie Covington. Numerous Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and friends that were loved like family.

 

Services for Ben will be held Sunday, November 29th 10am at Trading Ford Baptist Church, 3600 Long Ferry Road, Salisbury. The service will be live streamed on Trading Ford Baptist church YouTube and Facebook accounts. At the end of the service those who have played music with Ben are invited to bring their instruments and join Mike and Andrew to play “I Saw the Light”. Designated seating will be made available for Military, Piedmont Natural Gas, Saving Grace K-9, Davidson Medical Ministries. A Military Internment will follow in the church cemetery. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to come back to the worship center and record a short video of some of your favorite “Ben stories” for the family.
