Betty Jo (Connor) Zimmerman

Betty Jo Connor Zimmerman, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 24, 2022 following a long period of declining health. Betty was born September 20th, 1934, in Salisbury, NC. She was the daughter of the late Theodore and Emma Connor. She graduated from East Spencer School. She worked at Woolworths, Leisure Lads, and eventually retired from GE after 20 years. She was a talented seamstress and crafter whether it was painting ceramics or repurposing furniture, she was always trying something new. She loved to work in her large flower gardens, an avid reader, and baker, making several wedding cakes for family and friends over the years. She enjoyed traveling with friends going on numerous bus tours around the U.S. Betty was an active member in the Red Hats Society. She treasured time with family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty was a member at Bethel Lutheran Church and was an active member in the Women's Circle.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother Bobby Ray Connor. Betty is survived by her husband James Zimmerman, sister Dorothy Kepley of Granite Quarry; son Jamie Zimmerman of Salisbury; daughter Crystal Bullock (Joseph) of Salisbury; three granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank her caregivers and hospice for their kindness and care. Arrangements: Visitation will be held July 29th from 10-11a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church 355 E. Ridge Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144. Service will follow at 11a.m. with Pastor Mike Lang and Reverend Mike Motley officiating.
