Carl “Smokey” Goodman, 84, of Salisbury passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at his residence.
Born in Rowan County on June 9, 1937, he was the son of the late Bertie Miller Goodman and Mack Goodman.
Carl worked at Matthew’s Quarry for about 38 years. He was a member of Phaniel’s Baptist Church and loved hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Carl Eugene Goodman, Jr. and brother, Hubert John Goodman.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Patricia L. “Pat” Goodman, whom he married on July 27, 1958; son, Carl “Peanut” Goodman of Salisbury; brothers, Floyd Goodman of Rockwell and Bob Goodman (Clara) of Kannapolis; sisters, Christine Culp of Rockwell and Dorothy Honeycutt of Rockwell; grandchildren, Allison Hamilton and Jennifer Goodman; great-grandchildren, Grace Hamilton, Christian Burnett, Rylin Hood, and Emery Hood.
Visitation: 10:00-11:00 AM Friday, September 17, 2021 at Phaniel’s Baptist Church, 2685 Phaniel’s Church Rd., Rockwell, NC 28138.
Service: 11:00 AM Friday, September 17, 2021 at Phaniel’s Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
