Rev. Claude Jacob Hartsell, 93, of Salisbury, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024. He was born on February 10, 1931, in Albemarle, NC to the late Claude and Elizabeth Hartsell. Claude was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Carolyn Doby Hartsell and his brother Clyde Hartsell.
Claude graduated from Albemarle High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1950, serving during the Korean War until 1954. He graduated from High Point College and Emory University Seminary. Claude Served as a United Methodist Minister in the Western Conference of North Carolina for thirty-three years encompassing eleven church appointments.
Claude enjoyed his three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He enjoyed Lake Norman, boating, fishing, aviation, and his six-day a week golf obsession. After retiring Claude stayed active and involved at Williamson’s Chapel UMC.
Claude is survived by his two sons Jim Hartsell (Beverly) and Tim Hartsell (Wendy); grandchildren Jennifer Alderman (Jeremy), Laura Allen (Wes), and Kate Hartsell; Step grandsons Justin Hall (Jennifer), and Kevin Hall (Jennifer); great grandchildren Griffin Alderman, Sydney Alderman, Parker Allen, Phoebe Allen, and Harrison Hall, and Claude’s sister Willie Hartsell Gibson.
Arrangements: Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 20th in the Chapel at Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 575 Brawley School Rd., Mooresville, N.C. 28117. Interment will follow the service at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Pastor’s Discretionary Fund.
