Clyde Lipe Obituary

Clyde Eugene Lipe, 94, of Salisbury,NC, was called home and joyfully heard, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Born October 21, 1931, to Clarence & Edna Mayhew Lipe, Clyde served honorably in the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserves, earning the National Defense Service Medal while serving as a medical technician. He proudly achieved his high school equivalency and continued to learn throughout his life, dedicating 50 exemplary years to Fieldcrest Cannon before retiring.

On April 22, 1956, Clyde married Peggy Stewart Lipe, and together they shared 54 years of devoted, happy marriage. A man of steadfast faith, Clyde loved Jesus deeply and lived that love daily before his family, raising four children according to God’s guidance. His 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren each held a special place in his heart—he lovingly called the great-grandchildren “the lights of his life.”

A simple man of great faith, Clyde’s legacy and testimony are found in his love and faithful commitment to his Lord, his wife, and his family. He was a quiet servant who gave of his time and himself to others, touching many lives through his service as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, RA leader, and church leader at Oakland Heights Baptist Church, where he served for more than 50 years. Clyde and Peggy also devoted decades of service to The Gideons International. He was most recently a member of Faith Baptist Church.

Clyde was an avid sports fan who loved the Atlanta Braves and enthusiastically supported any sport his children or grandchildren played. He could often be found cheering from the sidelines—sometimes on as many as five different ball fields in a single evening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Peggy Stewart Lipe, sisters Francis Marie Lipe, Pauline Lipe Bost, brother Roy (Jim) Clifton Lipe and numerous in-laws in the Stewart family.

He is survived by his loving family, children; Robbin Shinn (DeeRay), Karen Kneip (John),  Katrina Lipe (Jason Cody), and Todd Lipe (Linda). His grandchildren Jordan Shinn (Corrin Thomas), Josh Shinn (Amanda), Madison Shinn Wyatt (Jason), Maranda Shinn Lingelbach (Matthew), M.Chase Kneip (Tiffany), Brittany Kneip Haberny, Odessa, Spencer & Rowan Cody, Tyler & Cassidy Clifton, his precious great-grandchildren, Addison Rose Haberny, Easton Kneip, Benjamin (Benny) & June Wyatt, Mia & Milo Lingelbach, Nora Jean Shinn, Gabe, Kyler, Eli & Layla Thomas, Sister Peggy Lipe Bringle, extended family & friends.

Visitation with his family and friends, Friday, November 14th, 9:30-11 at Faith Baptist Church fellowship hall. Graveside service at 12 noon at Rowan Memorial Park. Pastor Stephan DeWalt of Faith Baptist Church will preside.

In lieu of flowers, Clyde requests donations to Gideon International Organization to continue the sharing of God’s word.
