Craig Battson Hilliard passed away at his home March 22, 2026, at the age of 71.
He was born February 24th, 1955, in Rowan County to the late Colleen Hilliard and Bill Hilliard.
In addition he was preceded in death by Lillie Hilliard, his late wife.
Craig was a graduate of Mitchell College and Pfeiffer College with a Criminal Justice Degree. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves Baseball organization out of high school. He was Superintendent of Iredell Corrections and Lexington Correctional Facilities of North Carolina during his career. Craig enjoyed spending time with his daughter and grandchildren. Craig loved talking sports with his son and coaching no matter if on the field or from his couch. Craig also loved his little buddy Max ( Chihuahua ) and enjoyed his company.
Left to cherish his memories are his (Son) Phillip Hilliard, ( Daughter-in-Law ) Keisha Kirk-Hilliard, his ( Daughter ) Jennifer Murphy and ( Son-in-Law ) Keenan Murphy accompanied by ( Grandchildren) Gus, Cora and Grant Murphy.
A service will be held at City Memorial Park Cemetery 1224 W Innes on Friday April 3rd at 12 PM, conducted by Rev. Mike Hilliard. The reception will follow from 1-3 PM at DJ Restaurant (1502 W Innes St, Salisbury, NC 28144).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southeast Middle School Booster Club, 1570 Peeler Rd, Salisbury, NC 28146.
