Cynthia Gail (Sherman) Gaftunik

Cynthia Gail Sherman Gaftunik, 73, of Salisbury passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at her residence.

Born in Pinole, California on May 14, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Doris M. White and James Sherman.

Mrs. Gaftunik started working at a school to be close to her children and that began her love for libraries. She worked to put herself through school and earned her bachelor’s degree, working as a librarian for 40 years. She was such a loving person. Mrs. Gaftunik loved canning, sewing, knitting, and crafting. She had a love for her cats and dogs and other critters. She was a beautiful and loving person and will be deeply missed by her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Matt Gaftunik.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Thomas Murray, Jr., whom she married on October 14, 2016; son, Pete Gaftunik (Michelle); stepsons, Thomas Murray, III and Dean E. Murray; daughter-in-law, Debbie Gaftunik; stepdaughter, Gwen Jasime; grandchildren, Blake and Stephen; great-granddaughter, Lily.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
