David Michael "Mike" Harrigan

David Michael “Mike” Harrigan, 75, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. Born on August 23, 1949, in Rowan County, NC, he was the son of the late Philip Harold Harrigan and Melva Jordan Harrigan. 

Mike is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Allison Walters; his sons, David Harrigan and wife Joanna, and Alex Harrigan. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Ellie and Will Walters, and Parker and David Harrigan. He is also survived by his brother, Philip Harold Harrigan, Jr., as well as two nieces, a nephew, and a dear friend, Winfred Kluttz, who was like family to him. 

A graduate of Boyden High School’s Class of 1968 and Catawba College in 1972, Mike dedicated more than 30 years of service to the Salisbury VA Medical Center before retiring. 

Mike had a passion for golf and often joked that he played “eight days a week.” He loved telling jokes, cheering for the Carolina Tar Heels, listening to beach music, and collecting Matchbox cars. More than anything, he was devoted to his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He spent countless hours on ballfields and golf courses, cheering them on and sharing in their successes. Known for his kind heart and generous spirit, he never hesitated to help others, always willing to give the shirt off his back. 

A private family remembrance will be held at a later date.
