David Wayne Hipp, 75, of Rockwell passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at his residence.
Born in Rowan County on August 22, 1946, he was the son of the late Donnie Rebecca Watson and James Howard Hipp.
Mr. Hipp graduated from North Rowan High School and was a retired veteran of the US Army, serving in Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, going on camping trips, spending time with his grandchildren, and watching western movies. He was also an avid collector of many things and a member of Faith American Legion Post #327. He was given the beloved name of “Pop” by all that knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jekolia Hart Hipp.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Alan Hipp (Melissa) and Neal Hipp (Peggy), both of Salisbury; daughter, Wendy Hipp of Salisbury; sisters, Brenda Honeycutt (Leon) of Salisbury, Patty McHugh (Mike) of Texas, and Linda Trexler of Salisbury; grandchildren, Justin Hipp, Dr. Kenneth Hipp, D.J. Hipp, Kevin Hipp, Hunter Hipp, and Cade Sells; great-granddaughter, Lyla Hipp.
Service: 9:00 AM Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144 with the Rev. Ken Reynolds officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Joint Services Honor Guard.
