David Poteat Obituary

David Horace Poteat, 79, of Rockwell, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Liberty Commons Nursing Home.

Born in Rowan County on November 12, 1943, he was the son of the late Fannie Ragan Poteat and Carl Stephen Poteat.

Mr. Poteat was a 1963 graduate of East Rowan High School. He loved the UNC Tarheels and the Atlanta Braves. He had a love for music and singing, but his heart was for his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several siblings.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vickie Poteat; sons, David Scott Poteat and Jeffrey Wayne Mayhew; daughter, Jodie Annette Poteat; brother, Kyle Poteat; sisters, Phyllis Trexler and Joanne Lovings; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
