Our beloved mother Deborah Sue Holmes Lambe, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Debbie was born in Salisbury on January 24, 1947, to Reuben and Ruby Lee Holmes. Her childhood was filled with aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom she adored. Her fun-loving and devoted group of Rowan County friends remained close through the years, supporting each other in life's ups and downs.
A 1965 Graduate of West Rowan High, Debbie also attended Salisbury Business College. She retired from Duke Energy after 30 years of service in purchasing. She loved her work family and often spoke of the fun times they shared.
A longtime resident of China Grove, Debbie moved to SC after retiring in order to be closer to her grandsons. You could find her on a soccer field, a cross county course, supporting at school functions, or pulling for Clemson.
Most recently you could find her dancing, singing or playing games with new friends at her assisted living in Charleston. She looked forward to a Coca-Cola during happy hour, and she loved being mom to her cherished kitty Lucy.
She always saw the best in people, and her light will continue to shine through her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by daughters Amy Camp Smith (partner Scott Blue) of Charleston, and Kara Camp Hawkins (husband Brandon) of Rock Hill. She was an exceptional Grandma and Gigi who is deeply missed by grandsons Grant Smith (21) and Blake (17) and Dylan (15) Hawkins.
The family will receive friends on Saturday July 20, 2024, from 10:00 - 11:00 am at St. Matthews Episcopal, 4401 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC, 28147. A service will follow then she will be laid to rest beside her parents and among family at Saint Matthews Episcopal Church, where she was a lifelong member.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthews Episcopal, 4401 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC, 28147.
