Mrs. Dixie Myers Scott, 99, died at Trinity Oaks in Salisbury, NC on May 3, 2026. Dixie Scott was born August 22, 1926, in Jackson, MO. She was the daughter of the late W. I. Myers and Florence Genevieve Talley Myers.
Mrs. Scott was educated in the Holland, MO schools, and received her AB degree from New York University, a MS in Music Education from the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO, and a Master of Library Science from the University of NC, Chapel Hill, NC. She was a Director of Media Services at Catawba College, Salisbury, NC at the time of her retirement in 1989. She had previously taught in public schools in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and North Carolina.
Mrs. Scott was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Salisbury, and a member of the choir, United Methodist Women, the Daisy Hedrick Sunday School class, and was a former Sunday School teacher.
She held offices in a number of community clubs: was past president of the Salisbury Woman’s Club, the Tar Heel Story League, the Rowan Doll Society of NC, and was a member of the American Association of University Woman. She was a former member of the Salisbury-Rowan Choral Society, the Concert Choir, and the Salisbury-Rowan Quilters Guild. She also had served on the Rowan Nursing Home Advisory committee.
Mrs. Scott is survived by a daughter Mrs. Sharon Scott Geier and husband Steven of Jacksonville, FL, a son Dr. Gregory E. Scott and wife Elaine of Salisbury, and 6 grandchildren.
Cremains will be interred at the National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
