Elender Morgan Obituary

Elender Yates Morgan, 81, of Salisbury passed away at her home on Sunday, May 19, 2024.  Born in Rowan County on January 11, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Ethel Hartsoe Yates and the late Johnnie C. Yates. She attended West Rowan High School and was of the Pentecostal faith.

She was a loving and adoring wife for 63 years to the late Harvey Eugene Morgan, Jr. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend who was always there when she was needed the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance.

Nothing gave her more pleasure in life than to be doing something kind for others.  She and her husband were a perfect team in their many years together, both with servants’ hearts and blessing others. When you entered their home, you felt as though you had been adopted into the family.

Elender loved reading God’s word and listening to gospel music; she loved flowers, and she loved the mountains. Most of all she loved her family, always ready to listen and provide guidance. She had quite the sense of humor and days with her were filled with her love and laughter.

God called her home, but we thank Him for the time He allowed our angel to walk amongst us. We know our angel will continue to watch over us from heaven instead of this earth. We will cherish our memories of her as we continue our journey to travel along life’s way until we are reunited in Heaven. Until then, she will be remembered for loving us unconditionally, for her love that will always be in our hearts and carry us through.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Aileen Turner, Carolyn Yates and Virginia Davis, and brothers Alan Yates, Charles Yates, and Jerry Yates.  Left to cherish her memory are daughters Carolyn Barger (Jeff), Sheila Smith (Jeff), Charlotte Morgan (Brandon Cranfield), grandchildren Stephanie Gallo (Brian), Savanna Athey, Cameron Wagoner, Alexis Wagoner, Ariel Corriher (Tyler), and great-grandchildren Oliver and Logan Gallo, brothers Donald Yates, John Yates, and sisters Reba Dudney and Doris Moon, step-father-in-law Fred Rash, along with the following who are very near and dear to the Morgan Family – Rick Wagoner, Bob and Linda Settle, TJ Murray, Chandler and Campbell Myers, Diana Taylor, Derrick Barger, Kara Whitten (Craig), Mary Emerson Barger, Leon Whitten, her very special canine companion, Skittles, and lots of loving nieces, nephews and special friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to those who provided assistance and care.

A visitation will occur from 10:00-11:00 am on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Faith Lutheran Church Family Life Center, 205 S Main St, Faith, NC 28041.
