Elizabeth “Libby” Mae Baker passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by her daughter and loved ones, on November 18, 2025, at the age of 68.
She was born on October 17, 1957, in Lee County to the late James Reece Baker and Virginia Mae Mathis Baker.
Libby was a 1976 graduate of North Rowan High School. She loved gardening, scenic drives through the Blue Ridge Parkway, and admiring the hummingbirds. She also enjoyed meditating by her goldfish pond and spending quiet evenings relaxing with loved ones.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Steve Baker, James Bouldin, and Michael Bouldin; sister Carolyn Thomas; and soulmate Lonnie Smith.
Left to cherish her memory are her sisters Doris Sprenkle (Dan) of Dallas, NC and Vickie Swing (Jeff) of Eagle River, AK; daughter Shelley Burgess (Jason) of Lexington, NC; cousin Debbie Ferrer of Sanford, NC; numerous extended family; special friends Sandy Menster of Salisbury, NC, Sandra Parnell of Winston-Salem, NC, and Scott Parrish of Salisbury, NC; and her Carolina Senior Care Family in Lexington, NC.
A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 pm on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Franklin Baptist Church, 3810 US-601, Salisbury, NC 28147. The funeral will be at 2:00 pm, conducted by Rev. Joe Thomas. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park, 4125 Franklin Comm Center Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144.
