Elmer Glenn Safrit

Elmer Glenn Safrit, 95, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at his residence.

Born in China Grove, NC on December 26, 1927, he was the son of the late Eva B. Parrish and Aubrey E. Safrit.

Mr. Safrit was educated in Rowan County Schools. He was a veteran of the US Navy and retired from Southern Bell Telephone after 36 years. He was a member of the Salisbury Police Reserve for 15 years. Mr. Safrit was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He loved to go fishing at the beach and local lakes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Melene Harris Safrit.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Glenda Safrit Williams of Shallotte, NC; son, Tim Safrit of Salisbury; grandchildren, Tim Safrit, Jr. of Salisbury and Stefanie Mattingly of China Grove; great-grandchildren, Jessica Safrit of Salisbury, Katelyn Basinger, Ellie Mattingly, Hunter Mattingly, and Nic Mattingly of China Grove.

Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 PM on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 701 E. Lafayette St, Salisbury, NC 28144. Service will begin at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Don R. Safrit officiating. Entombment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park, 4125 Franklin Community Center Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144.
