Frances Cook Hinkle passed away on April 8, 2025, at Compass Healthcare and Rehab in Spencer, NC, at the age of 99.
Frances was born on December 12, 1925, in Salisbury, NC to Arnold Cook and Edna Cook. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Hollis L. Hinkle, Jr.
She graduated from Salisbury High School and Dunlap Business School. During WWII, she worked for the United Women’s Garment Union traveling the country and had a lot of stories to tell about her experiences. She retired with 40 years from Rustin Furniture as a bookkeeper.
Frances was a member of the Eastern Star for 60 years. She was a very outgoing person, very feisty, and was dearly loved by many friends during her lifetime. We express great appreciation to the staff of Compass Healthcare for the care they showed to Frances for many years, and to Trellis Supportive Care.
There will be a graveside service at Oakdale Baptist Church, where she was a member, on Saturday April 12, 2025, at 12:00 pm. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Lane.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oakdale Baptist Church, 200 Charles St., Spencer, NC, 28159, or to Trellis Supportive Care, 301 S. Main St., Salisbury, NC 28144.
