Frankie Raymer Obituary

Frankie L. Raymer, 71, of Salisbury, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, July 21, 2022, while camping with family and friends in Tennessee.

Born in Rowan County on April 6, 1951, he was the son of the late Virginia Misenheimer and Willis Raymer.

Mr. Raymer was a graduate of South Rowan High School where he played football and wrestled. He was named Most Valuable Wrestler his senior year. Mr. Raymer was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He served with the South Salisbury Fire Department for 15 years, achieving the rank of First Lieutenant and serving as secretary. He was one of the earliest firefighters in the county to be certified as an EMT. Mr. Raymer cherished his family and was very dedicated toward their happiness. He loved time together with family and friends, traveling, and being outdoors where he enjoyed walking and hiking, four-wheeling, fishing, and didn’t miss a season of deer hunting. Mr. Raymer enjoyed music and often attended concerts and bluegrass festivals. He was an avid softball player for years, and coached baseball in the East Rowan Little League. He retired with 32 years of service with the NC Department of Transportation where he achieved the rank of Transportation Technician IV. He then went to work for Kissinger Campo and Associates, a consulting firm based out of Tampa, FL, where he performed similar technician and inspector-related duties for another 14 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Nathan Raymer and sisters, Brenda Gore and Sarah Virginia Raymer.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Franda Chilson Raymer and daughter, Lisa Raymer of the home. He is also survived by a brother, Billy Raymer of Granite Quarry; nephews, Jody Wood and Mark Ott; niece, Michelle Turner.
