Geraldine Webster Obituary

Geraldine Louise Peterson Webster, born April 18, 1930, in Kinzua, PA, graduated in 1948 from Warren High School. She was a devout Lutheran. She married Charles L. Webster in 1952.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Gilbert Leroy Peterson and Doris Moylan Peterson; her brother, LeRoy Melvin Peterson and his wife Jan; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by three nephews David, James, and Richard Peterson; a niece Susan Peterson Cooper; a cousin she thought of as a daughter, Cathy Shine Swanson; and several other cousins.

Out of high school, she worked for two photography studios doing touch-ups. She and a friend owned a “Twice Around” clothing store in Corry, PA. She then did secretarial work until moving to Salisbury. She was an artist and received many awards in Oil, Acrylic, and Watercolors in both Pennsylvania and North Carolina. She was a member of the Warren Art League, Carolina Artist, and Trinity Oaks Art Club. Gerry was an avid seamstress, did crocheting, and needlepoint, taking various awards with her work. She made jewelry, was an excellent cook, and enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She was a very talented lady and a good listener. She really likes cats but became allergic to them.

While living in Pennsylvania, she and Church had a sailboat on Lake Chautauqua, NY, participated in Sport Car Rallies, Golfed, and Cross Country Skied. They had a German Shephard named Cody.

She and Chuck moved from the Warren-Corry area in Northwest PA, southeast of Lake Erie. They moved to Salisbury, NC in 1982 to get out of the snow and be near their dear friends from up north who had moved to Pinehurst, NC. She and Chuck bought the “1868 Stewart-Marsh House” on Ellis St. and ran a Bread and Breakfast.

She was a member of the Historical Foundation, Hall House Committee, and a docent at the Hall House for several years. They were members of Haven Lutheran Church and served on several committees before becoming a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and sang in the choir at one time. She designed and created professional church banners for several churches in Salisbury. She organized an art group “Monday Rembrandts” at St. John’s.

While living in Salisbury they continued to enjoy golfing, going to the beach, as well as travelling out west. Like in the north, Gerry enjoyed all the arts and crafts she could be involved in.
