Gilbert Wayne Miller

Gilbert Wayne Miller (Wayne), 84 of Salisbury passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Glenn A Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC.

He was born on Oct 24, 1938, in Rowan County to the late Junius Rendlemen Miller and Virginia Wilson Barringer Miller.

He was educated in Rowan County Schools. He served as FFA President. He along with other church members played fast pitch softball for the Union Lutheran Church softball team.

Wayne worked in construction his entire life, most of which consisted of home construction and some church construction in the Salisbury area. Also, he served as President for the Rowan County Home Builders Association.

Wayne loved to run beagle dogs in field trial activities. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and of course his church where he served on the council and numerous committees. He was a lifelong church member and choir member.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was proceeded in death by a son, Andrew Wayne Miller. Wayne is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patty Sue Mahaley Miller, whom he married on February 8, 1959, 2 sons, Patrick Miller (Sharon), and, Eric Miller (Allison), 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Lloyd Miller of Charlotte, Harold Miller, & Dwight Miller of Salisbury, and sister Laverne Davis of Belmont.

The family will greet friends & family at Union Lutheran Church on Friday, March 24, 2023, visitation 3:00 pm, service at 4:00 pm with Pastor Heidi Punt officiating. The burial will be in the Union Church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Union Lutheran Church music fund or building repair fund.
