Harold Russel Chaffin Sr.

Harold R. Chaffin Sr.  of Woodleaf, NC passed away at the Rowan Regional Hospital on January 23, 2025, at the age of 77.

He was born on August 19, 1947, in Rowan County to the late Hugh Thomas Chaffin Sr. and Kathleen Waller Chaffin.

Harold worked at the VA Hospital and was a self-employed HVAC and Appliance Repairs Technician. He was involved in his church and for many years he was a volunteer fireman at the Scotch Irish Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed visiting his kids and grandkids. Annual family beach trips to Myrtle Beach were some of the family’s most cherished memories. Harold was a veteran of the Air Force and was stationed in Cheyenne, WY and Minot, ND.

Left to cherish his memory are his brothers Tommy (wife Pat) Chaffin and Wayne (wife Joy) Chaffin of Woodleaf; his sister Shirley (husband Steve) Barron of Mocksville; his sons Rusty Chaffin of Broadway, VA, Chris Chaffin of Gastonia, NC, and Mickey (wife Melissa) Chaffin of Salisbury; his grandchildren Jarret, Christopher, Noah, Seth, Grace, Kyrstin, and Kanyon; as well as 9 nieces and nephews.

A small private service for the family will be held on Thursday January 30, 2025. His memorial service will be at 4:00 pm on Saturday February 1, 2025, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1913 US-601, Mocksville, NC 27028. This will be followed by a visitation with the family, and it is open to all.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his honor to a veteran organization or charity of your choice, or to his home church of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Mocksville.

If you do wish to purchase flowers, the family asks you to please consider a living plant that can be planted in his honor and have the flowers delivered to the memorial service at Holy Cross Lutheran Church on Saturday.
