Harvey Doss Obituary

Harvey Lee Doss, age 87, of Denton, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2024.  He was a retired Air Force veteran who faithfully served the Lord, his country, family and community.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Christine, of the home; his children, Steven Doss (Jan) of Denton, Susan Spoon (Robert) of Denton and Debra Smith (Jesse) of Ruskin FL; grandchildren Jessica (David) Cole, Jenny (Jonah) Witherspoon, Kelly (Brent) Spoon-Laws, Zachary (Shanda) Cox, and Randy Harris. 

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ora Doss; brothers, Wayne, Shirl, Dewey, Oscar; sisters, Carolyn Barnard and Sandra Colley. He is survived by brothers, Joseph, David, John, Ronnie, Clayton, and sister Mary Scott.  He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

Harvey loved life and enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing and gardening.  As much as he loved the outdoors, his great desire was to serve through many church ministries at Calvary Baptist Tabernacle in Salisbury.

A service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday July 24, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Tabernacle, 3760 Stokes Ferry Rd, Salisbury, NC 28146. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Steve Holshouser and Rev. Clayton Doss. A burial will follow in the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144, with military honors by the Lyerly Joint Service Volunteer Honor Guard.
