Heidi U. (Holbrook) Kovar, age 51, of Salisbury, NC 28147, transferred peacefully to heaven late Thursday evening, May 21, 2026, after becoming ill. She was born on August 18, 1974, at the
U.S. Naval Hospital, Bethesda, MD.
Heidi attended various stateside and overseas schools. She graduated from Bamberg American High School, Bamberg, Germany, Class of 1992. In 1997, Heidi graduated from UNC Greensboro with a BS. Heidi became a Registered Nurse. One of her desires was to work in a VA Hospital which became true at the W.G. (Bill) VA Medical Center In Salisbury, NC. "Finally," she echoed, "I can now help the service members with whom I've been associated as a military family member while stateside and overseas."
Heidi loved horses and dogs. She rode and taught English horseback riding lessons, taking many of her well dressed young ladies to riding shows and competitions.
Preceded in death by: Grandparents Werner & Jutta Gebauer, Harry L. Holbrook & Ethel England; Godmother: Ute Hartwig; cousin Ralf Hartwig.
Survived by: Parents, Larry E. Holbrook and Uschi (Gebauer) Holbrook; son, Jordan Kovar; grandmother: Vicky Kovar; aunt Karen Brown and family, Lynn Holbrook and family, Curtis Holbrook and family, Carol Murphy and family, Klaus Gebauer and family, Uli Gebauer and wife Sylke; Jordan's father Ron Kovar; and a host of cousins and friends in Germany and the U.S. And, her beloved dog Luna.
A funeral mass for Heidi will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 375 Lumen Christi Lane, Salisbury, NC, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation commences at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice Care (Bldg.43, Liberty Lane) by sending a check to Salisbury VA Medical Center, 1601 Brenner Ave., Salisbury, NC 28144.
Important is that Hospice 9168 must be written in the MEMO area of the check to ensure it gets to Hospice.
