Helen Mills

Helen Mills, 96, of Salisbury passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at her residence.

Born in Randolph County, NC on May 30, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Effie Hill Spencer and Elwood Spencer.

Mrs. Mills graduated from Trinity High School. She and her late husband Bill worked together at C&M Ambulance Service until 1984. She later retired from Brown Supply in Granite Quarry. Mrs. Mills attended North Main Baptist Church, where she was always active in the church. She loved visiting the shut-ins and the sick and sending cards to people. She was known and loved for her famous pound cakes. She was known as Nana to everyone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Mills; daughter, Connie Mills Mesimore; brother, Donald Spencer.

Left to cherish her memory are her granddaughter, Kristin Alexander (Sean) of Salisbury and great-grandchildren, William Spencer Jones, Chandler Jones, and Nick Alexander.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday, March 17, 2023 at North Main Baptist Church, 1501 N Main St, Salisbury, NC 28144. Service will begin at 11:00 AM at the church with Dr. Dale Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park, 4125 Franklin Community Center Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Main Baptist Church.
