Jack Miller Obituary

Jack Leon Miller, 87 passed away suddenly; Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at his Home.

He was born January 6th 1936 in Rowan County, the Son of the late Emma Gullet Miller and John Lewis Miller.

Jack was such a Strong Willed Man; he lived his life in a Free Spirited way and very independent up until he became sick. He loved his 2 Children and his Family with such passion. When he moved to his duplex apartment he met friends for life; but one of his highlights of the day was his neighbors daughter Olivia. He looked forward to hearing her call from across the yard, “Hey Mr. Jack”. Thank God for small blessing and she was truly a blessing to him.

He was a Veteran of the United States Marines and received the following: Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Jack retired from his job doing Upholstery Work in 1990 when he had some health issues. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Preceding his death were his parents; his Son Phillip Leon Miller and his first Wife Faye Miller Hawks. Also, 3 Sisters - Anna Peacock, Bessie Menster, Betty Beaver; 11 Brothers - Howard, Raymond, Lewis, George, Robert, Hubert, Johnny, Bill, Jim and Walter.

Those left to cherish his memories are his Daughter, Connie Overcash (Freddy) of Salisbury; Grandson, Joshua Overcash (Brittany) of Salisbury; Step-Grandchildren, Ashley Davis of Louisiana, Amanda Davis of New Bern and Alexis Craig of Salisbury and numerous nieces and nephews he loved very much.

Visitation: 2:00-3:00 PM Monday, January 23, 2023 at Trading Ford Baptist Church, 3600 Long Ferry Rd, Salisbury, NC 28146 with service to follow at 3:00 PM with the Pastor Joey Spry. The service will continue at Miller Family Cemetery at 5435 Wildwood Drive, Salisbury, NC 28146; followed by Burial.

Military Honors will be conducted by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard. The family will be at the residence of Connie Miller Overcash at other times.

In Lieu of Flowers; memorials can be made to the Miller Family Cemetery Marker Fund, a marker with the name; Miller Family Cemetery and year established in Honor of Jack, something he had expressed to his Daughter that he wanted to do.
