James Deason Jr. Obituary

James Richard Deason Jr., 83, born May 5, 1942, of  Stanley NC traveled to his heavenly home on November 12, 2025, He was born to the late James and Susie Deason of Stanley, NC. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his siblings, Janie Lemmond, Louise Deason, Hazel Deason, Charmen Riley, Margaret Hayes, Peggy McIntosh, William Deason and Luther Deason.
Richard’s life was a huge impact on others, he lived a life of honor, devotion, and commitment to his family, community, and country. He was the kind of man who showed up for people that mattered to him. His quiet strength, quick wit, and gentle wisdom were a constant to those around him. He was more than Uncle Richard, he was a confidant, a teacher, and a trusted friend. He built a legacy not through accolades, but through the way he treated people. He believed in doing things the right way and treating others with honesty and respect. Richard’s warm spirit, stories, and his steady presence will continue to guide those who love him. He honorably served his country in
the United States Army and was loved by everyone who met him. He was an avid outdoorsman and gardener. He enjoyed many long days with Gavin, Cole and the boys by the creek. He loved for Kelly, Nikki, and Trey to play Nascar on their  go carts, as he pretended to be Dale Earnhardt on his old lawnmower.  Richard longed for his youth to be able to race Gavin, Cole, Knox, Sawyer, Baylor and Rhex on the same track.
Richard is survived by his sister Wanda Spencer, niece Susan “Sissy” Deason and nephew “Buster” Deason. He has many nieces and nephews.

Services celebrating Richard’s life will be private honoring his service to our country at the Salisbury National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project by visiting www.woundedwarriorproject.org in Richard’s memory.

Richard was a gentle giant, who was especially grateful for the love, care and support Sissy gave him, as his life declined.
